"Matthew
Shanks first arrived at the Parklands Dojang soon after the club became
established, in 1992. He quietly got on with his training and just
seemed to enjoy himself from day one. He was an instructor's dream
junior student; he accepted what he was taught, asked lots of pertinent
questions, and had supportive parents who trusted me with their little
boy!
Over the years Matthew just kept coming along to
training sessions without a major break, achieving excellent grading
results, considering his very young age. Every Masters seminar was
a hurdle for him which he overcame, and this, I believe, helped to
develop his very mature character. Matthew Shanks is the perfect
example of a first rate black belt brought up the hard way - having
graded at each stage when he was truly ready for the next one.
Now in 2004, he is a first rate practitioner and a highly respected
assistant instructor within his home club where he grew up. He has also
developed a particular skill in helping other people to
learn. Matthew is sure to succeed in life in whatever he chooses to
do, and I believe that his Taekwondo training has helped in many
ways. Also, as he started so young, he is certain to make a good,
young Taekwondo master one day - a true inspiration." |
